Old Mahoning Baptist Church Annual Banquet

Message: Discipleship

Matthew 28 :18-20 is the final instruction Jesus gave to His followers before He ascended into Heaven. “The Great Commission,” as it is called, was given not just for those of that time but for us, for all time.

Our mission is clear: Go and make disciples. First, though, we need to BE a disciple. Using Easton’s 1897 Bible Dictionary definition, we’ll walk through what it looks like to follow Christ so we are equipped to go out into the world and make disciples.

Salvation through Christ is free but being a disciple? It will cost us. It requires sacrifice, to enter the narrow gate, to take up our cross, to deny ourself and desire God’s will over our own. It requires us to leave the world behind to cling to Jesus, standing firm on the Truth of the Bible and understanding that we may lose friends or even a job because we won’t cave to the voices and pressures that swirl around us.

Please be praying over this gathering!
